While you're Here.

While our days during the event will be quite full, Los Angeles is a vibrant and diverse city worth exploring. From hiking trails and beaches to world-class restaurants and unique neighborhoods, LA truly has a bit of everything.

Lightning talks

All participants are invited to give a lightning talk.  A lightning talk is a five minute presentation on a compelling topic related to cultural heritage imaging, your work, or that of your organization. Slides and demos are encouraged, but a free-form talk is also great. The goal is to introduce yourself, stimulate thought and generate ideas for meeting sessions. Lighting talk signups are possible on the registration page.

Topic planning

On the first day of the event we will collaboratively decide on the agenda for our three days together.  But lets take some time in the week leading up to the meeting to suggest ideas and register your interest.  We will provide a link via email to a OneDrive shared doc to capture your ideas.  This will help expedite the unconference agenda planning. â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

What to Expect    |    January Update

We are nearing the start of CHIPC 2026 at Getty, and wanted to share some high level planning information now, with more detailed arrival instructions and logistics to follow in a couple of weeks.

CHIPC will be hosted at the Getty Center,
1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90049.

Many of you will be staying at the Luxe Hotel near the Getty Center. If you have not yet booked a room, you may still use the reservation link for the CHIPC room block we arranged there. https://www.chipc.info/2026-meeting

Additional details on parking, shuttle options, and arrival logistics at the Getty Center will be shared closer to the event.

Monday, Feb. 9
Registration and check in will begin at 8:00 am, with coffee and a light breakfast provided. The official program will begin at 9:00 am and run until 5:00 pm.

At 5:15 pm, we will host a welcome reception to celebrate the end of our first day together.

Tuesday, Feb. 10
Coffee and a light breakfast will be available starting at 8:15 am, with a 9:00 am program start. Sessions will again conclude at 5:00 pm.

That evening, the Digital Transitions group has offered to host an informal reception at the Luxe, beginning at 6:00 pm.

While CHIPC is intentionally designed as a space free from commercial sponsorship and vendor programming, we wanted to share this information in advance so you are aware of the option as you plan your time in Los Angeles.

Wednesday, Feb. 11
Arrival will begin at 8:30 am, with a 9:00 am start. Coffee and breakfast will be on your own this morning, though food and coffee are available on campus should you choose that option.
We will conclude the main program with closing remarks at 12:30 pm.

We end earlier on Wednesday to give you time to continue conversations you’ve started, connect with colleagues, and enjoy the Getty campus. Our meeting spaces will remain open for informal use, and we will also offer a small number of tour opportunities at the Getty Center, as well as an optional behind the scenes visit to the Getty Villa. We hope you’ll stay with us for these tours or take time to enjoy the Getty Center or Villa as we bring our three days together to a close.

More details will follow soon, but we hope this overview helps with your travel and planning. If you have any accessibility needs we should be aware of, or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me directly.

On behalf of the Getty and CHIPC team, we very much look forward to seeing you all soon and coming together in community, collaboration, and shared curiosity.
